Cookies Make The World Go Round.

Well, it looks like I am going to be on the Children’s Sunday School committee, because clearly I am insane. I should be on medication. Can anyone say glutton for punishment?

Why oh why won’t the Lord let me run and hide? Why do I have to be on a committee with people who have hurt me in the past? People who’ve shunned my child because of her allergy?

And I don’t really like committees. I am a worker bee. Give me a job and I’ll do it, but I don’t want to plan and organize and recruit and tell others what to do. I don’t like to be the leader. I am a total follower.

I think the Lord is trying to grow and stretch me. I don’t like to grow and stretch. Sigh.

The first committee meeting is in two weeks. So I have two weeks to fret.

Sir D suggested I show up at the first committee meeting with cookies. In Sir D’s world, cookies solve all problems. I think I might actually do it. You know, buy them off with sweets. Sounds like a good plan to me.

(Anyone else see the irony there? Buying off the SS committee with snacks because they won't stop serving snacks in SS? hehehehe)

Well, sounds like doing this is the only thing that is going to proved some protection for your daughter. If you have a plan about how to keep your daughter more safe, how about meeting with the head of the committee before the meeting, so you have someone else on board. I will pray for you as I know how heart wrenching this issue can be, especially when others just don't get it. The Lord has blessed us with many people around us who are really supportive and insist on taking no chances with our little guy's allergy. We still really keep close track though.

I think I would show up with snacks that are all dairy free. Things they could actually buy and serve the kids. Just as a way to point out that it CAN be done. I would also bring a list of all foods that are safe for her or a list of foods that are absolutely not safe for her.

How did you get roped in to this anyway?

Here's a gruesome thought: I wonder if there are any YouTube videos of a child going into anaphylactic shock...You could show that for motivation! Having a child, myself, with a food allergy, I sympathize. Just hang in there. Remember the Lord will never put on you more than He knows you can handle!

I, too, dislike committees and probably w/have pulled my son out and moved to a deserted island!

Hang in there!

I was for the desert Island, sadly DH was not for the desert Island.

And Halfmoon Girl, the head of the committee is the children's pastor. We haven't seen eye to eye on this issue since dd was 2.

See what I mean about the loan republican in a democratic caucus? :o)

And Tonya, I got roped into this because short of leaving the church which Sir D does not want to do, or taking dd out completely I had no other option.
