We're Taking Over!

I know the above photo is a little off color, but it made me laugh my head off! I think my sense of humor might be sick and twisted.

And since we’re on the subject of Halloween, (we were, really) I have to say there has been a trend lately, a good one. Have you noticed how the churches are PACKED on Halloween? The irony there is beautiful. Last year at the trunk or treat at my church we had to turn people away towards the end of the evening because there was simply no place left to park!

We had ghouls and goblins and several Brittany Spears look-alikes and witches and vampires etc. Some might be unhappy to see little ghouls running around their church, but I was oh-so pleased. These were unchurched kids and families who possibly have never heard the gospel message. These little Brittney Spears wanna-be’s were sitting in my church watching a puppet show telling them how much Jesus loves them and wants to know them. How we’re all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God, but don’t be dismayed! Jesus made a way! It makes me so proud of my church (and I need all the help I can get!). People want to celebrate Halloween, but want a safe place for their children to do it. So where do they go? The local church.

Maybe, if they were received with open arms and felt welcomed and not judged even though their daughter was a little vampish and their son was a goblin, perhaps, when things get hard in their lives they’ll remember that church down the street and how safe and loving it was.

It makes my heart sing do drive down the street on Halloween and see the streets practically empty of trick or treaters and the church parking lots full to overflowing! The church is taking over Halloween! I LOVE It!

We wouldn't want to ruin his cool.

The teenager has a tournament in a city about 5 hours away from here the weekend after Thanksgiving. It was our plan to borrow Sir D's brother's RV being that we are currently in the unenviable state of camperlessness, and go to the games.

Sadly, we are a bit low on vacation funds due to some unforeseen recent expenses (like The Other Teenager leaving his gear bag home on the ill fated riding trip to Houston and Sir D buying him some new gear, which is NOT CHEAP!) and a few other things.

Being that the tournament takes place close to Christmas, we thought we'd better forgo the family adventure and just send The Teenager.

I must say I was a bit nervous about this. A bunch of teenage boys in a hotel with only a few adults. Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. Sir D called the Youth Pastor at our church whose son is also on Will's team and ask him if he was going, and what is the procedure here, does Sir D need to accompany Will, how does it all work? (we're still learning how the world of SOCCER-IS-MY-LIFE works)

Our Youth Pastor, (who I love because he is not barley out of the teen years himself, but instead has a wife and 4 kids, 3 of which are teens so he knows a thing or two about what he speaks) said he had room in his car with his family and would be happy for Will to join them.

I can't tell you how relieved I am. Really, how much trouble could the boy get into with his Youth Pastor and his family? I think he'd only possibly be safer with a car full of Nuns and I'm pretty sure there are no caravanning Nuns heading to the soccer tournament.

I am a little concerned at The Teenager's response to all this. He seemed almost relieved the entire family was not going to accompany him and his team to the tournament. What? Is he afraid we'll ruin his cool?

I'll bet Beaver and Wally's room never looked like this.

It's that time of year again. The time of year when we go through all the clothes. See we use summer clothes for 7 or 8 months out of the year here in TX, so we have A LOT of summer clothes.

When winter finally rolls around we have to go through ALL the summer clothes and put them away. We take this opportunity to cull through the clothes. My kids are hard on clothes, and we end up getting rid of quite a few things.

Then we get the winter things down from the attic and put them in our drawers. The thing is, we can never really put up the short sleeve shirts because it's been known to warm up to the upper 80's in Nov and a sweater just won't cut it.

So we are in the midst of this process. This is what it looks like.

I hate this process. It is messy.

It does not help that the girls keep making forts out of their bunk beds.

I posted this because I am just trying to keep it real. I am not the perfect homeschooling mom, not by a long-shot. Yes I made cookies for my family on Sat, but look at my girls room. It's like someone exploded a clothes-bomb in there.

Hopefully we'll get it all done in a few days. Yikes it's bad in there!

A New Love

I have discovered a new love. Something I thought I’d have to live without forever. The Breakfast Sandwich.

See when I was pregnant with Ann (who is my dairy allergy kid) I developed an egg allergy. How weird is that? Eggs, while sold in the dairy section at the store, are not in fact, dairy. It’s a whole different animal. Now my throat won’t close up and I won’t die. My stomach will just do things that make me wish I were dead. So eggs and me? We stay far away from one another.

This problem has seriously affected my fast food breakfast choices. See if I eat a pastry or a donut, well I might as well just go back to bed cuz in a matter of minutes after ingestion; I am looking for a soft place to lie down. I need some protein. It’s a little tricky to get a breakfast sandwich, sans eggs, with protein. So I simply have not been able to imbibe in the last 9 years. Whataburger Breakfast tequito, how I have missed you.

However, things changed for me forever last weekend. While I was in Houston, we stopped at Whataburger for breakfast. I thought I was destined go without breakfast, but hark! What is that on the menu? A Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich you say? Let me try that!

My friends it is a match made in heaven. Protein in the chicken, sugar in the honey all on the wonderful flakey goodness that is the biscuit. Now don’t get me wrong. I am not suggesting this breakfast sandwich is healthy. I am not that delusional, but it’s better than a donut, and it won’t make my stomach revolt.

I think I’ll be seeing a lot more of the old Whataburger in the future.

The Post in Which Tricia Gets A Little Snarky.

It has been several weeks since I have been to church. First I was out of town with my friend in a hotel room for a little mini break. The next week we had a guest who was leaving on Sunday morning and we didn’t feel like we could just say, ‘bye, we’re going to church’. So we saw him out, then had home church since it was too late to make it to our own. The next week I drove to Houston to take my SIL to her mangled-in-a-motorcycle-accident hubby.

This week my family and I were planning on attending, lest those at our church forget what we look like. But when I looked up what Ann’s class was doing today, my hopes deflated. They are having a Purim feast. Lots of food.

This is VERY common in my church. I have whined about it a lot here on the blog. It seems my church cannot teach about The Jesus without snacks.

The last two weeks we were actually at church (back in Sept) Ann had to come into our adult Sunday School class because there was food being passed out in her class. I’m not sure what 15 4th graders eating Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars has to do with Jesus, but what do I know?

Really this post has no point other than to whine. We could have gone to Church I suppose. I could have stayed with Ann in her class and we could have observed from a spot in the back of the room. I grow weary of standing in a spot in the back of the room observing. So the boys took themselves to church and the girls and I are at home.

I just never thought I’d see my family so split on Sundays. Before Ann we always went to church together. We rarely missed a week. Now we miss a lot, and it seems when we are there, either I or Sir D have to stay in Ann’s class or she has to come into ours, and really, what’s the point? I know technically we could work around it, keep her with us; whatever. I just get tired of jumping through hoops at a church that really does not seem to care one way or another if it is a safe place for Ann to be. She’s only one kid, there are many others that are getting their needs met. They’re not going to change anything for the one. I have come to grips with this attitude from my church, but I don’t like it and it makes it hard for me to put forth the effort to get there with regularity, only to stand in the back of the room with Ann.

Okay, enough whining. Sorry. I hope you all enjoyed your Sunday services. I did enjoy my little Home Church today. We learned about The Jesus and there was no dairy involved.

Success!

This is the look of a successful Saturday.

Sadly, they'll be gone in less than two days.

Comacozi Dove

Bob was sitting at the kitchen table yesterday doing some school when he glanced out the window. He saw a dove fly off the branch of our tree and directly into our glass front door! When he was telling me this I was incredulous. I KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that the door is not so clean as to make it invisible. There are smeared fingerprints all over it.

Bob said, “No Mom, the big door was closed behind the glass door. The bird couldn’t have thought he was going to fly right on through.”

Strange. Was he suicidal? Maniacal? Rabid? Do we have a flock of Nutty Grey Doves roosting in our trees?

This is all feeling very Hitchcockian to me.

Crisis

I am feeling a little down today. There is crisis happening all around me, like a tornado.

My brother in law’s body is just so broken right now. He can’t do anything for himself. This is a very vibrant and independent man, brought low so very quickly. He is tired. His wife is tired. No one is sleeping. The pain is extreme. The prognosis for healing, while good will be LONG in coming. This will not end soon. And there is nothing I can do.

A friend of mine’s marriage is falling apart. I am in awe of the human ability to destroy. Bad, selfish choices cause everyone to be afraid, and in pain. They tear at each other, out of pain and anger and fear and everyone is hurt. And there is nothing I can do.

I have bonus kids here today; tasked with the job of keeping the kiddos away from the destruction and pain. I am on call to pick kids up from school, have kids sleeping over when their parents cannot watch them. I try to act like all is well, like it is just another day, while watching my friends and family suffer.

Father in Heaven, so many need your healing hand. Do not hide your face from them.

That's What She Said

Today I'd like to send you over to Shannon's site. She has a guest poster today who wrote about her son's peanut allergy.

As many of you know my Ann has an anaphylactic (fatal) allergy to ALL dairy. So many don't understand what that means. It means if she gets some pizza grease on her hand by sitting at a table that has not been cleaned, she could die. DIE. It's crazy and terrifying.

I must admit to being one of those parents who thought is was so unbelievable that some school districts were outlawing peanut butter just because a couple of kids couldn't have it. How rash and ridiculous! Then I had Ann and learned all about fatal food allergies. Kids with severe peanut allergies can go into anaphylactic shock just by SMELLING peanuts!

Now I get it.

I'm not suggesting that the world go dairy or peanut free. I know that is unrealistic, but if there were just a few places our kids would be safe, sunday school, or grandma's house, our lives would be a little simpler.

So go read Shannon's post. Jane Ann (her guest poster) said it better than me.

There and Back Again. Again.

Just a reminder that my contest ends today at midnight.

I am going to bed now. I drove to Houston and back again today. About 10 hours in the car. My other SIL R and I got SDB and SIL R back home. (I just realized all three of my sister-in-law's name's begin with R. Humm, that is going to get confusing.)

He is resting comfortably in his own bed now, well, as comfortably as one can rest with three broken ribs and a titanium rod for a femur bone.

And I am ready for bed.

Medically speaking…

Some of you have inquired about the stitch removal. It went off without a hitch. Ann sat very still while I took some of my sewing scissors (because they are the only sharp scissors in the entire house) and cut the threads. Then I put some ointment on it for lubricant and gave Ann some tweezers and a mirror.
She wanted to pull them herself. They came right out. So, YIPPEE!

Now on to more impressive injuries.

Sir D, Sir D’s Brother (heretofore known as SDB) and their friend C, and my boys went on a riding trip down to Houston this weekend. Everything seemed to be going along swimmingly until late Saturday afternoon. They say it’s always that last lap that get’s ya. SDB apparently miscalculated something or other and there were berms and whoop te doo’s and high siding on a curve and maybe some headshake and other impressive motocross terms I do not understand, and he flew off the track and hit a tree. Hard.

SDB broke his femur in three places and broke several ribs, and may have slightly punctured a lung (how do you slightly puncture a lung, I ask?)

I got a call from my SIL R around 7pm on Sat night asking me if I’d heard about SDB. Um, no I had not, but I knew it could not be good. It wasn’t. He was going into surgery to put a rod in his leg. That night.

So SIL R and I distributed our remaining children to various willing adults, threw some things in a bag and headed off for Houston. We made the 4 hour trip in 3. I was doing a fair amount of speeding, but figured if I got pulled over I had a good excuse, plus we didn’t have to stop every 5 minutes for potty breaks.

By the time we got to the hospital at 11:30, (getting to Houston was the easy part as it turns out. Finding the hospital at midnight, then SDB’s actual room took a while) he was out of surgery and in his own room.

We left SDB and SIL R at the hospital and Sir D and I went off in search of a hotel room nearby. It was after 1 at this point and, for the first time in my life, was wondering if there was a place that sold hotel rooms by the hour. Sir D said that would probably not be the kind of establishment we should inhabit. Oh, right.

Anyway, after getting about 6 hours of sleep that if I figured out how much it cost me by the hour, I am sure would make me sick, we headed back to the hospital to meet up with SDB, SIL R, C (who’d been at the camp site with my boys) and my boys.

We prayed over SDB, said our farewells and packed up all the motorbikes and gear and wagon-trained back home.

SDB and SIL R are on their way home today. I can only imagine that riding in an SUV with a rod in your broken leg, and several broken ribs and a slightly punctured lung will be an experience SDB or SIL R will not soon forget.

Makes a few hours in an ER waiting room and a few stitches to the head seem like nothing.

PS, don't forget about my giveaway! It ends Tuesday at midnight!

A Giveaway! A Giveaway! A Giveaway!

I was sent an Advanced Readers copy of Brandilynn Collin’s newest book. All I had to do was review it on my blog. There are some serious perks to being a blogger!

I have read many of Bradilynn’s books, and I LOVE them. I loved her Hidden Faces Series so much I bought a copy of this series for my sister as a gift. And her Kanner Lake Series? Totally freaked me out!

Let me give you some advice; if you go to a little cabin in the woods in the middle of nowhere with your family on vacation, and let your husband leave you and the sleeping children in the little cabin to go hang out with the rest of the family at the campsites about a mile away, don’t take the opportunity to finish the series. I know it would seem like a good idea, what with the lack of TV’s or computers or, really any other sounds or people to distract you, but it will get in your head. Then when the little woodland animals begin to scurry about after dark, you will be certain you are being stalked by a psycho killer and work yourself into such a state, that when your husband finally comes back, he will take in your frenzied appearance and request you stop reading the scary books already!

I mean, I guess. I don’t know for sure. Ahem.

So back to the newest book. It is called Dark Pursuit. It did not have quite the freak-out factor that the last two series did, but it was good none the less. (BTW, this is a stand alone book and not the beginning of a new series.)

You can read what it is about here. I don’t want to add to that because I don’t want to give anything away. Let me just say that I read it in two days and it did not disappoint. The ending left me very satisfied.

Also I read it during the day when I was not alone and the sun was up, bright and shiny.

Now for the best part! Brandilynn has agreed to send a brand spankin’ new copy to one lucky winner when it comes out in early November!

Here is what you have to do. Just leave me a comment telling me what your favorite genre to read is; romance, suspense, mystery, fantasy, non-fiction, teen fiction books about vampires, whatever. I’m dying to know.

I will leave this post up until Tuesday. I’ll close the comments at midnight on Tuesday and use the Random Number Generator Thingie to choose who gets to win this spine tingling book!

Removal

Today I will be pulling the stitches out of Ann's head.

I don't want to pay the $30 to go see the doc for him to do it so I bribed her. $15 if she'll let me do it.

Is that being frugal? Or is it being a bad mom? It's not about the money really so much as the time. The ER people told me I could bring her back to the ER and they'd take them out. Yeah, right! I don't go to the ER unless someone is on deaths door or needs part of their bodies put back together or stitched back up. I'm not going there for stitch removal. Anyway I've done it before. Of course it was on the calf of a teenage boy's leg. That's a bit different than a 9 year old girl's head.

I'll let you know how it goes.

And don't forget to leave a comment on my Giveaway Post!

Have a great Saturday.

My Sister's in a Movie! Look!

I have mentioned before that my sister is an actress and model. Well, now she's in a feature length movie! Check this out! My sister is the Mom; the one walking out into the yard hollering. She's good at hollering!

I am so proud of her. Can't wait to see it in its entirety.

Things I pondered during The Great Wait of 08.

Yesterday, you'll recall, I spent sitting in the ER with Ann...

The 'hurry up my baby is bleeding from her head' portion of the emergency has passed and we have reached the 'now wait for a long, long, long time' time.

My baby, who is holding a wet, bloody cloth to her head and leaning on me and whimpering, is tired and just wants to go home. I, being eternally optimistic, tell her it will be over soon.

I begin to look around the Emergency Room waiting area, and notice something; a shocking lack of actual emergency. In fact there was great calmness. People were laughing and watching one of the 5 million TVs playing on every wall. I begin to think that perhaps if people did not use the ER for their own personal general health doctor, perhaps my baby, who is BLEEDING FROM HER HEAD could get seen by a doctor sometime before the Second Coming.

I also notice that there are a lot of TVs. It is one waiting room with all the chairs faced one general direction, and yet there are TVs on all the walls spaced approximately 5 feet apart. I start to think that perhaps if they did not invest so heavily in our entertainment, they could afford more doctors and nurses and we would not have to spend so much time waiting. Then I realize it is perhaps not so much our entertainment they are after, as much as it is our pacification. If we just stare mindlessly at the sparkly boxes on the wall we won't realize we have been waiting here for a sweet forever.

Finally, mercifully, they call us back to the inner sanctum. We are taken to a small room where a nice lady checks Ann's pulse and other vitals. It is deemed that she is in no danger of imminent expiration (a good thing since we've been here for hours by now) and we are told to take the file and follow the yellow brick road green line. Where the green line ends we find a desk, unmanned. There is a sign next to the unmanned desk at the end of the green line that tells us to leave our file on the desk and go wait in the green waiting room to the right.

We do as we are told and go sit in the next waiting room. In the first waiting area of the Emergency room there are many people. In the next phase of waiting there are no people, you begin to wonder of you have descended into some unknown area, a hospital purgatory if you will. The ever present TV is blaring on the wall. It is on a cartoon show, unlike the TVs in the other waiting room. Those were on things like The Tyra Banks Show and Entertainment Tonight. I can only imagine the new vocabulary my daughter has learned, but I digress.

We sit in the green waiting room for a while listening to the most obnoxious cartoon imaginable. I do not exaggerate here, as evidenced by the fact that my 9 year old daughter asked if we could just turn it off and read. Yeah, it was that bad. I turned of the TV and we read several chapters in her book. (I am a seasoned ER mom. I don't care how much blood you have lost, I am taking that extra second to grab a book.)

Finally, at long and merry last, we are taken into a room where the very kind male nurse informed me that she has a laceration in her forehead that will require stitches. Ya think?

We are seen, pretty quickly actually, by the lady doctor who sticks needles into the laceration to numb it. It was at this point that the mama just about hit the deck, but I took a deep breath and decided if my 9 year old baby had to experience it, I could at lease be in the room while they did it.

Once her head was put back together, the lady doctor and I discussed the need for a CT scan. After an extensive amount of poking and prodding it was determined that no she did not need a CT scan, but she did have a mild concussion and should be watched.

We were done. It was time to go. And only a mere 4 hours! But wait, not so fast. My paperwork was incorrect. It had gotten mixed up with someone else's and needed to be reworked. If I could just wait a minute, they'd fix it and we'd be on our way.

This was true...45 minutes later.

Well, at least we finished the book. (SEE! Eternally Optimistic!)

Some call it Multitasking

So what did you do today? Bake something? Clean a little bit? Get the kids off to school? Do school at home with the kids? Make breakfast for your husband?

Yeah, not me. I spent the day in the ER. I can’t tell you how much I HATE spending the day in the ER.

Ann decided she wanted to combine two of her favorite activities; tree climbing and scooter riding. Word of Wisdom: Don’t ride your scooter in the tree. It will only end badly.

It will end with you falling out of the tree and the scooter will land on your head.

It will end like this.

Then you will spend the rest of the day waiting, like this.

For hours and hours and hours,

And then some more hours.

She currently has three stitches and a mild concussion.

I am SO ready for bed.

Offsides! Or something.

We worshiped at Soccer Field Church again this Sunday. I learned my lesson last time and didn't drink too much coffee beforehand so I did not have to visit the scary port-a-potties there.

Here is a photo of my kiddo getting ready to head the ball. See the ball waaaaay up there? How does that not hurt when you head a ball from that high I ask? Amazing he does not come home shorter after a soccer game.

See me? I am so confused. What the heck are they doing out there? Which goal is ours? What in the world do those hand signals that he ref keeps making mean?

I'm a slow learner.

"Holding! Illegal use of the hands, 10 yard penalty, first down." coming from the ref in a football game. That I understand.

This soccer stuff is foreign to me.

And if you're wondering how the game went. This is one of Will's teammates. He did this a lot during the game. It did not end well.

Silly Putty: A Substance From The Dark Side

A Public Service Announcement.

It takes a great deal of vegetable oil and a fine tooth comb to get silly putty out of very fine, long, silky hair.

It also takes a great deal of patience.

Silly Putty and oil, left in very fine, long, silky hair, for any length of time will leave a residue that even the most astringent shampoo will not remove.

I’ll let you know how long it takes for the residue to wear off, when I know.

Never, never, sleep with silly putty.

Family Photo

This is the family photo I like. I still don't know how they got so big.

This one is okay, but Will's head is floating. He had on a dark navy shirt that blended into the black background.

Will appears to be sneering in this one and Ann has a goofy look.

This one I like, but Will's head is floating again.

And here are Sir D and I. Holy cow! Who's that slightly pudgy middle aged lady? I know it's not me cuz last time I looked I was a smokin' hot, skinny teenager, right? And what happened to Sir D's hair? I remember running my fingers through those thick locks...um, never-mind.

Some days I really worry about that boy.

Scene:

14 year old boy laying on couch. Supposed to be studying for a science test, but instead has the papers lying on his head.

Mom: You know you have to actually study those papers. You can't lay them on your head and hope that the information will seep into your brain.

Bob, peeking out from under the papers: True. What if I eat it?

To Quote Chicken Little...

I thought about writing about the yummy taco soup I made last night, or the fact that my 14 year old son has decided he wants to look into becoming a Fireman or a Police man. Just what every mother wants to hear; that her son has decided go into a profession where he’ll either be required to run into burning buildings or get shot at.

I could write about the fact that my girls would rather have a messy room than play with their friends or watch TV. I know this because they cannot do either until it’s clean, and they are not cleaning it.

I could write about the fact that I’m making real headway on my book which is exciting, though somewhat disturbing since all I can think about is my characters and what they are doing and what they will do etc, and you know, that’s disturbing because they don’t actually exist.

But I’m not going to write about any of those things because there is something bigger that has me just a little freaked out. Normally I don’t listen to the Chicken Little types who run around telling you that the Sky is falling. There all the same, those types that spread fear.

The thing is though, this time it’s not the fear monger types that are running around yelling ‘The Sky Is Falling!’ It’s financial conservatives and liberals alike. ‘Economic Experts’ like the economics editorial writer for The Wall Street Journal and president of Euro Pacific Capital and author of Crash Proof: How to Profit from the Coming Economic Collapse and other big smart important people I used to ignore.

One lady asked if the thousand dollars she had stashed in a federal credit union was safe. The expert replied that yes it was. Even if the bank failed there are safeguards in place to make sure you will get your thousand dollars out, and then you’ll be able to go buy a tank of gas with it, so great will be the devaluation of our dollar.

They were actually saying it might be a good idea to stock up on non perishable food items while you’re money is still worth something.

I don’t mind saying people, I’m gonna have to stop watching the news because while I have not yet seen the effects of this mess that Washington has made, I’m told that hurt is a-commin’ and it’s starting to freak me out.

Perhaps it’s time to go to Wal-Mart and stock up on TP and canned veggies.

I'm Home

I pulled up in the driveway at about 8:30 last night and was immediately greeted by kids running toward me with hugs and kisses. Even the teens! Okay there was less running and fewer kisses from them, but there were hugs!

I slept so well last night, listening to Sir D breathing beside me and knowing all my kiddoes were downstairs safely in their beds. I was home with my people where I belong.

This morning I woke up late and so did the kids. I know Sir D did not get them to bed on time all weekend. He likes to let them stay up late, mostly because he's gone in the morning when the're grumpy. But it's okay. I love for them to have Daddy-time.

It is raining outside to day. I love rainy days. I feel like staying in my PJ's again today and just playing with my kids, reading books, writing...

Sadly, it is back to reality today. I have some chores to do, some school to oversee with the kids.

Life can't be lived in my PJ's, but a girl can dream.

Back to work...

It's A Flurry of Activity!

Since I have eversomuch time on my hands today I have done not one, but two reviews on my Homeschool Review Blog today.

Go check it out.

Happy Saturday!

Good morning! I realize it may not actually be morning, right now when you are reading this, but it is morning when I am typing it and it seemed a proper greeting.

I am currently sitting on the bed in the hotel room, surrounded by junk food and nice clean white linens and NO ONE else. I am alone in the hotel room. ALONE.

Now, perhaps I am sounding too happy about this. I do love my people dearly. I do actually choose to stay home with them and teach them at home and be with them always, because I love them. But sometimes my brain needs a break from all the stimuli. There is precious little stimuli in this hotel room.

There is no talking. There is no tv on or radio playing anywhere. There are no ridiculously large teenage boys bumping onto everything and shaking the place when the walk. There are no bouncing little girls. There is no dinner to cook, no laundry to wash, no dishes to do, no floor to clean; I could go on but I think you get the point.

My friend had to get up and go to a seminar at the hotel, poor dear, so she'll be out most of the day. I could have slept in after she left, but strangely enough I didn't want to waste my alone time. So I'm up drinking coffee and writing. In my PJ's.

This is my uniform for the weekend. There might be a slight variation in the color of the PJ's if I should happen to spill something on these. I did come prepared with extras just in case. Once a girl scout always a girl scout.

Funny thing though. Even though I brought all that stuff, I only brought one change of clothes. That is mostly stuff to do and eat while I am alone here in the hotel room. There are more books in there than clothes.

My inner teenager is horrified, but the Mom in me, the one who wants to lay abed all weekend and read and write won out.

Enjoy your Saturday, I know I will!
