Because it just seems right on Labor Day.

How long were your labors?
Will - 14 hours.
Bob – For-stinkin-ever! (I was induced with him and I think it took almost a full day for him to make his entrance.
Eve – around 1 ½ hours. (to say this was shocking after Bob would be an understatement)
Ann – 11 hours

How did you know you were in labor?
Kid #1, Contractions
Kid #2, because I was 42 and a half weeks and I couldn’t take it anymore and, oh yeah, the pitocin drip the dr gave me.
Kid #3, speedy and shockingly strong contractions
Kid #4, contractions

Where did you deliver?
Hospital, like Shannon so eloquently put it, where the drugs are.

Drugs?
Absolutely! Sadly, Eve made such a surprise entrance that before the anesthesiologist could arrive, she did. I believe I may have said some rather unchristian things about that man, and maybe his mother.

C-section?
Nope, but I think Bob should have been, cuz he was just a tad BIG and his head was BIGGER!

Who delivered?
The dr for all, though he got there seconds before Eve made her appearance.

How long were you pregnant? (I am adding this one because if one has to be pregnant over 42 weeks 4 times, one should get credit)
Will – 42 weeks exactly
Bob – 42 weeks and 2 days
Eve – 43 weeks and one day
Ann – 42 weeks and 3 days.

Go check out Shannon's site for more laborious stories.

***Several of you have commented on the over 42 weeks thing. I was induced with Bob and it was such a horrid experience; I get twitchy just thinking about it. Because of that experience I DID NOT want to do that again. After 42 weeks my dr made me go in for a Non-Stress Test every other day. I was not really fond of that, but my dr wanted to induce again and I was not, no way on earth, going to go through that again. I would have chosen to be pregnant for 50 weeks before that pitocin was getting anywhere near my veins again. Just so ya know***

Girl, did your kids not have watches or calendars? HAHAHA

As far as this comment: "I believe I may have said some rather unchristian things about that man, and maybe his mother."

I had several similar incidents. I was laughuing so hard when I read that.

Oh, I'm so sorry about the 42 weeks business! My sister was late with hers, and it didn't look appealing. :(

We like Sonlight too. :)

LOL at the 42 weeks (not really funny but I know what you mean!)

With the boys I went 40 weeks and 5 days.

With Madi...I was 15 days past my due date.

It was really ridiculous!

You like to keep them cooking for a while longer, eh? I was never in a rush to get mine out, but then I was never that overdue. I always was quite happy to put off labour- ouch.

You do get extra credit for that! How horrid.
Mine were: 41 wk & 2 days; 41 wk & 1 day (only due to my relentless begging for induction from 30 weeks on); 40 wk & 4 days; 40 wks exactly; 40 wks & 2 days. I was pathetic and whining and just plain bitter about being late, so the fact that you (and your husband, lol) even survived past 42 weeks is a miracle!

I hope your Mother's Day presents are really something to write home about every year! You earned it! I had such a Horrid experience with induction on my baby #1 that I refused it again with my next 2 as well. God himself could not have Paid me to go through that again. Blessings! ~Whitney

Oh, lady...I am SO glad to see someone else who just cooks their children longer!!!

mine were:
#1~@ 1 month early, planned C-section
#2~24 days post dates, induced
#3~10 days post dates, induced
#4~25 days post dates, water broke
#5~21 days post dates, home birth
#6~7 days post dates, induced

I rarely see anyone who carries their children as long as I did...so nice to meet you!!!

I was induced at 42 weeks for my first and avoided it for all the rest too! Mine not so long as yours though, 2nd-4 days, 3rd-7 days, and 4th-14 days over. I think anyone going over should get bonus credit!

Those are long times to be pregnant. I'm 36 weeks today! I do not want to be induced, so hopefully God has the same plan!!
I'm so glad I found this Labor Day event hosted by Rocks in My Dryer! I'm glad to read all these labor stories! :) Thanks for sharing!!

I was induced with all three and it really wasen't bad at all...
Baby 1 was only 5 hours
Baby 2 was 2 hours
Baby 3 was 4 hours

I bet you were really tired at the end!

I wanted you to know that this post really encouraged me! :-) I bet you never thought that by going to 42+ weeks and having long labors could encourage someone. BUT, the longest I've been overdue was 9 days and my labors are WAY WAY short (especially compared to you). The longest I had was about 9 hours. The shortest? About 2. So, I figure the odds are good that this little girl will come a bit late and have a short labor. Thanks for reminding me. :-)

I actually blogged this morning!
